About the club

Family friendly scuba diving and snorkelling in the heart of the Peak District National Park.

Diving in the Red Sea

Buxton Black Sheep Dive Club was created just over 5 years ago by a handful of enthusiasts formerly members of Buxton Sub Aqua Club. The club is one of the few scuba diving clubs in the Peak District and the only one offering both scuba diving and snorkelling to children from as young as 6.

We are a BSAC affiliated club allowing us to offer a full programme of scuba diver and snorkel training from beginner to advanced levels.

The aim was to build a club that met the needs of a strong experienced diver base but that also appealed to children and young people as several of the members had small children who were getting old enough to be included and Buxton Black Sheep Dive Club was formed.

Dive trips.

We undertake monthly scuba diving and snorkelling trips throughout the UK and abroad. The club regularly visits dive centres such as Stoney Cove and Capernwray but has widened its scope in recent years and our members have arranged trips to locations such as Mull, Lundy Island, The Farne Islands, Swanage, Plymouth, St Abbs, Malta, The Red Sea and the Maldives.

Pool sessions and open water training.

We operate a pool session once a month at Buxton Swimming Pool offering try dives, diver and snorkeller training.

The pool is routinely full of children at various stages of their snorkelled training or undergoing experience scuba sessions and we have a strong contingent of young people training for their Ocean Diver qualification.

Equipment.

The aim is to make the sport as accessible as possible and the club provides full dive kit as well as masks and snorkels.
